new home source
The challenge
How do we transform an outdated experience into a product that reflects the scale and maturity of a national homebuilding marketplace?
The objective
Create a modern product experience that could support the full new-home buying journey.
NewHomeSource had grown into a major marketplace for new construction, connecting buyers with builders, communities, home plans and available homes across the country. The business had evolved significantly, but the product experience had gone years without a substantial redesign.
We rebuilt the experience from the ground up around a new visual language and design system. The redesign brought consistency across the marketplace while giving the product a stronger foundation for search, discovery and future growth.

Search + maps
Search was not simply a way to retrieve listings. It was the primary way into the marketplace.
We redesigned results and maps as a connected experience. Buyers could explore an area geographically, refine what they were looking for and move into communities or individual homes without losing where they were in the search.
Communities
The community became an important layer between a broad search and a specific home. It brought together the builder, location, available homes, floor plans and information about the surrounding area.
We designed community pages to work as destinations of their own. Buyers could understand what was available within a development before deciding which homes or plans they wanted to explore further.
Homes + plans
An available home and a floor plan represent two different opportunities. One is a specific property. The other is a home that may be built in different configurations or locations.
The interface needed to communicate that distinction while still making both feel like part of the same marketplace. We created clear structures for each and established the relationships between them, their communities and their builders.
Responsive system
Mobile changed more than the layout. Search results, maps and property details had to adapt to limited space without losing the relationships that made the marketplace work.
We adjusted hierarchy and interaction patterns across screen sizes while building those decisions into the design system. The result was a more consistent experience across devices with a shared visual and interaction language behind it.
The outcome
The redesign launched across a marketplace reaching more than 1 million unique visitors each month, with builder partners praising the cleaner navigation and stronger mobile experience. Much of the structure we established remains recognizable in the product today.
